Regular Season Recap vs Colts Neck

Back on April 22nd the Marlins and Stampede got together for an exciting game on cold and rainy day. The Marlins lost to Colts Neck 11-10 as the Stampede scored a run in the bottom of the 6th, after the Marlins had spent the day making 3 separate comebacks. The Marlins fell behind 5-0 after 1 inning and scored 5 runs in the top of the 2nd. They then gave up 2 runs in the bottom of the 2nd and answered right back with 2 runs in the top of the 3rd.

As the teams entered the top of the 6th inning, the Marlins down by 3 were able to tie the game. Brett Subers led off with a single to left. With Mike McCarthy at the plate Subers was able to advance to third on consecutive wild pitches. Subers scored on McCarthy’s infield single to the pitcher. Robbie Kauffman came up next and McCarthy promptly stole 2nd and was able to advance to 3rd on another Colts Neck wild pitch. He would score on a Kauffman infield single to short. During Julian Zingler’s at-bat Kauffman was able to steal second and put himself in scoring position. A Zingler pop fly out brought Evan Kumar to the plate. Kauffman stole 3rd and was able to score on a wild pitch to tie the game during Kumar’s at-bat.

The Marlins played a good game and showed a lot of fight and determination behind the pitching of Zingler, Kumar, and Nick Alviggi. Come Sunday the Marlins will look to avenge the early season loss and begin their 2012 playoff run.
